The meal containers in our Washington DC, San Francisco, and Dallas markets are reusable and recyclable. They are dishwasher safe and can be used for any number of household storage needs. If you'd prefer to dispose of them, simply wash them out and place in the recycling. You can also drop them off at the Gimmie 5 recycling centers at your local Whole Foods.
For customers in our Los Angeles market, the meal container lids are compostable and we recommend rinsing them out and putting with your green waste. The meal container bowls are lined with a natural product and need to be composted in a commercial composting facility. Compost rules can vary depending on the municipality, so check with your area's waste management for specifics on handling etc. If your municipality does not offer commercial composting we recommend you discard our meal container bowls in the trash.
We are hoping to roll out compostable packaging in all of our markets within the next few months. Stay tuned.
